Reconstruction of the bridge over the Frassine River
Municipality of Montagnana (PD)
Bridge over the Frassine River along SP19
Total weight: 160,000 Kg
Implementation period: 2024
The overall project aimed to achieve the following objectives:
1. functional adaptation of the existing bridge, which, due to its small geometric dimensions, restricted provincial traffic;
2. increased hydraulic safety of the Frassine River, through:
__the recovery of the free flow section by eliminating the "bottleneck" that the existing structure (comprising the deck and abutments) constituted along the watercourse;
__the raising of the level of the banks and the new road surface to comply with the maximum flood level of 21.2 m above sea level: since the intrados level of the existing deck (20.4 m above sea level) was lower than the maximum flood level, the current structure constituted a physical obstacle to the free flow of water from the canal in the event of flooding (a frequent event due to the torrential nature of the watercourse) aggravated by the presence of parapet beams in reinforced concrete on the sides which in such cases are subject to a horizontal thrust on the bridge (due to the current) which therefore, for reasons of public safety, was not passable when such phenomena occurred with obvious repercussions on provincial roads.
Commissioned by the main contractor, Bertazzon was in charge of the reconstruction of the bridge over the Frassine River along the SP19 at km 1+850, in the Municipality of Montagnana locality of Borgo Frassine, on behalf of the Province of Padua.
The bridge constitutes an important connecting element for the provincial road system between the municipalities of Montagnana (PD) and Pojana Maggiore (VI).
